Final Project Charter 'Assignment 2'

1. I have decided to change my Assignment 2 as i showed in Assignment 2 because it did not turn out the way i want as it was too messy.

2. Therefore, this is a new ideation straight from my head. Its simple and did not require much effects.Nevertheless, i found the final output really simple and easy for people to read.

3.The documentation is as below:-

4.These are the reference images that i am using to produce my final ouput.

5.Firstly, I import the starburst picture into a new layer in pthotoshop.

6.I put in text using 'Wide Latin' for 'FOE Faculty of Engineering Open Day'. I rotate it a bit.

7.Next, I create a new layer. Using the paint brush tool,i paint the sides of the picture and by using Overlay, i get a red brushing at the sides of the picture.

8.I import the Multimedia University Logo which i created in Adobe Illustrator.

9.Next, I import one of the reference pictures into the scene. I apply a black stroke to the picture together with inner shadow and drop shadow. This is so that it look like it stands out from the picture.

10.Next i import the yellow paper and using text to type. I use the Stencil std font.

11.The other text for MPH, date and time..I use Minon Std.

12.After that, i import more pictures and using the same blending mode as earlier, I apply it to these pictures. I arrange this pictures nicely to look nicer.

Project Objective

Learning process of implementing the multiple tools using Photoshop Software in creating the digital wallpaper regarding ‘MMU FOE Open Day’. In this wallpaper, I will be promoting the Engineering Faculty to the freshies and to the outsider. This wallpaper will provide them some knowledge towards the benefits of joining FOE in the future.

_________________________________________________________________

Approach

I’m creating digital wallpaper based on the pictures that I have taken via websites. Then, I’ll alter them by using the Adobe Photoshop CS2. The wallpaper will be in A4 size.
The wallpaper will be divided into 3 sections landscape wise. The top half will be the engineering buildings arranged and set transparent with the MMU logo visible at the top right hand corner.
In the middle part, the text will be placed together with some circuit boards abd electronic gadgets being the background. The bottom part will place more text but with images of professionalism being the background.
Main techniques that will be used will be layers, gaussian blur, layer mask and the layer options such as transparency and the hus, saturation option.
A reference image is as below:-

____________________________________________________________

Roles and Responsibilities

1st Phase: Idea is sketched and images are snap and searching through website
2nd Phase: Images are edited and place inside the wallpaper. Text will be included
3rd Phase: Consult with Mdm Lydia
4th Phase: Final touches are made
5th Phase: Submission of Assignment 2

Comment

This assignment 2 will challenge in terms of promoting my own faculty in a creative way.
I need to search more ideas in creating it but i will try my best to utilize most of the tools in photoshop.

In Class Tutorial 3 'The Making Of'

1. First of all, all the images that are to be used are imported to the scene as below.

2.Using the technique of applying the grey colour to the image learned from tutorial 2, I grey the middle area of the background image by applying layer than changing the layer options to color.Using the paint brush, i colour the middle part.

3. Using the imported image the money note, i arranged it accordingly with the word 'SAVING'. This is done by using the alpha channel to see the word 'SAVING' behind the money notes.
All the notes are arranged to cover the word 'SAVING'.

4.Next, the layer is created and put just above the background image and it is applied the group with previous layer option to every layer to see the money note and the word saving blend together. The result is as below.

5.Finally, the final output will look as below:-

Assignment 1 'The Making Of'

1. Firstly, the canvas is adjusted to 5'x7' and its rotated to get the landscape view.

2.Grids are turned on and set to the required preferences to 25 pixels and subdivision 1. Refer to picture below.

3. After that, borders are made using the rectangular and eliptical marquee tool. While doing the eliptical border, the selection is saved to be used next time. The result is as below.

4. Next, the first image is being brought in to the scene and placed in the middle.By using the saved selection just now,the pictured can be placed correctly in the middle.
The result is as below:

Each of this layer is applied the hue/saturation adjustment layer options.

5.To touch up on any part that were not affected, the paint brush tool is used to paint those areas.

Assignment 1 (Proposal)

Project Charter Assignment 1

Assignment 1 Title: Printout Postcard for the theme “Malaysia, Truly Asia”.

Project Start Date: 27 February 2009

Project Finish Date: 6 March 2009

Project Manager: Glen Ooi Zee Win

HP: 016-3571859

Email: glenooi@yahoo.com

Website: http://botakgoblin.blogspot.com

Project Objective:

Learning process in implementing the multiple tools in Photoshop Software in creating the poscard regarding 'Malaysia, Truly Asia' theme.
In this poscard I will be promoting the cultures of different races, architectural building and natural wonders that are available in Malaysia.

Approach:

I'm creating a postcard based on the pictures that have been copied via websites and alter them by using Adobe Photoshop CS2.
Most of the images taken are .jpeg and .bmp. In Adobe, layering are mostly used since the images have to be placed and arranged on top
of each other using layers .For the text, I will be using my own fonts. Masking will also be used in this assignment.

Ideation:

The idea for this postcard is where there is a twin tower, a redang beach scenery, dataran merdeka, sutera harbour resort and the alamanda, shopping mall being arranged and neatly combined together. The slogan 'Malaysia Truly Asia will be placed at the right hand bottom corner of the postcard. This idea is being modified from a reference picture as below.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1st Phase: Idea is sketched and images are searched via Google and Yahoo.
2nd Phase: Images are edited, placed inside the postcard. Text are placed too.
3rd Phase: Consult.
4th Phase: Final touches are made. Print the postcard.
5th Phase: Submission for Assignment1

Comment:
Adobe Photoshop challenges my creativity and its great since I am a person not highly equiped with creativity. The problems that I may face while doing this postcard is such as how to edit the images, and making it blend with each other.

In Class Tutorial 1 'The Making Of'

1. The final output is near exactly the same as the one in the video tutorials except that I have added a fourth starfish into my final output.

2. This image of a skycrapper is being used first. The middle is being blurred out using gaussian blur like the picture above.

3. The starfish is being added in one by one and scaled down and rotated to smaller sizes as its getting further from the screen to show the starfish like its falling down as the picture below.

4. The 3 starfish before the last one is being applied gaussian blur and its radius is being modified to show the starfish like its falling down as its gets nearer to the screen.

5. The final starfish is being duplicated to be behind it and it is applied radial blur 'zoom' option.

6. We mask the original and the duplicated starfish behind it. We apply the masking in the middle in order to show motion to the starfish at the sides as the picture below.

7. Next, I transfered a plasma tv picture to our image. To make the plasma TV picture look real, scan lines are being applied to the picture by using the halftone pattern and choosing the line pattern option.

8.This plasma TV is placed on the building by arranging it to look like it sticks on the building using the transform tool. After that, it is being added shadows by using the option 'drop shadow' from the layers pallete. The output is as below.

9. Finally, to apply a shadow on the plasma TV so that it blends in with the building.
This step is done by adding a new layer, selecting the part where the shadow will be on the plasma TV and adding the foreground colour black to it.

10.Once that is done, the layer is being applied gaussian blur. After that, the 2 layers is being masked by clicking the layer mask icon. Lastly, the shadow is adjusted by adjusting the opacity of the black foreground colour.
